Mr. P-A is a passionate, faith-filled educator who believes that everyone is gifted by God with the capacity to learn and grow in mind, body and spirit. He is always looking for, and can often be heard celebrating, “Holy Spirit" moments. Mr. P-A is committed to cultivating a Christ-centered environment at St. Jarlath and works hard to provide students, teachers and parents the tools they need to thrive in our learning community.
Mr. P-A is the proud son of Haitian immigrants. He was born in Washington DC but spent his first 7 years in Haiti, where he and his brother were raised by his grandmother. When he was in the 2
nd grade, Mr. P-A and his brother returned to the United States and grew up in Wheaton, Maryland.
After receiving a BA in Communications at the University of Maryland, he was accepted to Teach For America’s 1998 corps. His placement was Oakland, CA; he drove across the country to become a teacher with the Oakland Unified School District. He met the love of his life, Mrs. P-A, that year at the new-teacher orientation. She too was a recent graduate and new teacher. They supported each other throughout their first year teaching and continue to do so now, 18 years later, as principals in the Diocese of Oakland.
Mr. P-A taught 5
th Grade at Hoover Elementary for six years before transitioning to the Diocese of Oakland to become the Vice-Principal of St. Martin de Porres. He earned a Masters in Educational Leadership from the University of Notre Dame. His first principal position was at St. Felicitas in San Leandro where he led the school for four years, from 2007 – 2011. He then transitioned to St. Jarlath where he was the principal from 2011 – 2014. For the past two years Mr. Pierre-Antoine led the Notre Dame ACE Academies, a growing national network of 14 Pre-K – 8
th Grade Catholic schools that the University of Notre Dame operates in partnership with local dioceses across the country. The Notre Dame ACE Academies emphasized continuous improvement in the multiple dimensions of schooling, including Catholic school culture, advancement, and teaching and learning.
Mr. P-A loves spending quality time with his wife, they love to travel to tropical destinations. He also enjoys playing and watching golf whenever time permits.
