Pastor of St. Jarlath & Clinical Psychologist
Fr. Stephan has been an ordained priest of the Diocese of Oakland for the past 22 years. He is originally from Munich, Germany and came over to the Bay Area in the fall of 1989.
Besides being a priest, Fr. Stephan is also a licensed psychologist and the founder/director of KAIROS Psychology Group, an Assessment, Psychotherapy, and Consultation Practice in Oakland, California. Bishop Barber, SJ assigned him as the Pastor of St. Jarlath in 2014 and he has loved every minute of being the Pastor of this amazing parish and school community. He has 25 years of experience, ministering in various pastoral settings and with diverse populations. Fr. Stephan earned his Masters of Divinity Degree (M.Div.) at the Franciscan School of Theology in Berkeley in 1994 and returned to graduate school many years later to receive his doctorate in clinical psychology (Psy.D.) from John F. Kennedy University in Pleasant Hill, California. Current areas of specialization in his clinical work include assessments of and therapeutic work with clergy and religious, seminarians and candidates for religious life, and integration of spirituality into the therapeutic process.
Fr. Stephan juggles his time between the practice and the parish, and he promises that he will do his very best to be as available to the school community of St. Jarlath as possible. Fr. Stephan is so very proud to collaborate with Mr. PA and the amazing faculty, staff, and volunteers, and looks forward to meeting all parents and of course every single one of our amazing students.
Together in Christ, we are more!!
With Many Blessings
